Father's Day, Mother's Day - Done!

𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲, 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 - 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐞!

Every year, we pour out heartfelt tributes on these days.

We celebrate mothers for their nurturing, emotional strength, and resilience.

We praise fathers for their protectiveness, problem-solving, and steady presence.

But come the other days, these same traits turn into battlefields.

Nurturing becomes “emotional labour”

Protectiveness becomes “controlling”

Steadiness becomes “lack of expression”

And we spiral into gender debates.

Can we pause for a moment and ask:

What if we moved beyond the labels of “mother” or “father” — and saw the human beneath?

What if we stopped measuring relationships through gendered expectations - and simply embraced the shared human journey?

Historically, gender roles made sense ;

In hunter-gatherer times, then in agrarian societies, people accepted roles based on survival needs. Technology then began automating physical tasks:

First with machines, then electricity, and now - intelligence.

We have moved from muscle to mind, from effort to efficiency.

And the pace of change?

It was once sluggish. Now it’s exponential.

But while our tools have evolved, our mindset still clings to rigid roles.

And that mismatch is creating unnecessary turmoil.

Maybe it’s time to ask -

Can we update our expectations the way we update our devices?

Let’s celebrate being human - not just being a mother or a father.

What do you feel needs to shift in how we view gender roles today?

I would love to hear your reflections from workplaces, homes, or your own inner world.
