Me and My Shadow

 Me and My Shadow

Shadow is there because I am.

And I am in the Sun.

The shadow looks like me, but not always. It changes with the movement of the Sun, the clouds, and the objects around. When darkness falls, the shadow merges into it.

Yet, why do I sometimes think the shadow defines me?

The shadow can pull me into darkness, but I know — I can show up as a shadow, though I am not the shadow.

And there must be something for the shadow to appear on. I exist beyond it.

Just like these water lilies — their reflections depend on the light, the water, and the stillness, but their true form rises above, unaffected by the ripples or shadows cast on the surface.

A reminder for all of us: You are more than your shadow. Step into the light, and embrace your true self.

PS – There will be many aha moments in the ordinary and this particular one happened while walking on the terrace yesterday evening, giving rise to the above rumination.
