Listening to the body.

The other day, I was standing in front of a food counter at a wedding reception.

My eyes scanned the variety - sweets, snacks, savouries - all calling out with colour and fragrance.

My mind said, “Try them all!”

And I remembered how I used to obey - loading my plate with everything in sight! (And later sending invitations to all sorts of ailments)

But my body?

It whispered, “Slow down. Just a little. Maybe skip that one.

That pause? That internal check-in?

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬.

Not some far-off concept reserved for spiritual retreats.

It’s not something that needs a PhD or a pile of books.

It’s simply the practice of noticing.

Noticing what you feel.

What your body is saying.

What your mind is chasing.

What you really need, right now.

And here’s the beautiful part:

We’re all capable of it.

We just haven’t been trained to tune in.

Most of us are trained to respond to noise - notifications, cravings, to-do lists, expectations.

But self-awareness is the stillness within where your real self speaks.

And yes, this can be trained - gently and simply.

Not through hours of meditation or intense self-analysis.

Not through mumbo jumbo or scientific jargon that feels like prepping for a competitive exam.

But through small, everyday steps that help you build the muscle of awareness, aka 𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨-𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬.

Start with one pause today. One check-in. Your body’s wisdom is waiting.
