"Mindfulness is About Avoiding Stress or Negative Emotions"
Isn’t this thought crossing your mind often?
Many people assume mindfulness is about shutting out stress
or avoiding negative emotions. So, they adopt some coping mechanisms like
eating, smoking, and dome scrolling. And then they think they are failing.
In my workshop, I often remind participants: Mindfulness
isn’t about avoiding stress - it’s about acknowledging it. When you face
emotions without judgment, they lose their grip on you.
This realization can be transformative. Mindfulness becomes a
tool to navigate challenges, not escape them. It helps you embrace your
emotions and work through them, rather than pushing them away.
