I did not take a dip in the Maha Kumbh Mela.
Will it dip my Spiritual Quotient?
Well, back in January 2019, during the Kumbh Mela at
Prayagraj, I did take a dip. But it was neither planned nor intended!
We had mapped out a trip to Bodh Gaya and Varanasi,
with no plans for the Kumbh. But fate had other ideas. Our hotel manager in
Varanasi casually mentioned,
"Why not visit the Kumbh? I can arrange it for you. You have time
before visiting Kashi Vishwanath!"
Skeptical, we asked, “Can we be back in time? We don’t
want to miss the temple visit.”
His response? “You’ll be back much earlier than you think!”
The next morning, our cab took us straight to the riverbank,
where a boat was waiting to take us to the Sangam. Everything fell into
place effortlessly, as if it was meant to be.
At the Sangam, we watched boats full of people arriving,
taking their dips, and departing. Soon, it was our turn. And just like that, we
found ourselves in the sacred confluence, immersed in the moment.
When we returned, our cab driver was right there, waving at us - just a short two-minute walk away. The whole experience felt surreal, like having a movie ticket, watching the show, and effortlessly coming back home.
It made me wonder if spiritual experiences are always about planning or if they happen when we are open to them.
Spirituality isn’t about ticking off rituals but about being
present when life offers you a moment of connection.
Have you ever experienced something unplanned that turned out
to be deeply meaningful? Would love to hear your thoughts!
