Why are you eating?

🍽 Why are you eating? 🍽

Have you ever stopped to ponder why you reach for that snack, even when you're not hungry? Or why do you find yourself reaching for a drink, despite not feeling thirsty?

These behaviors could be manifestations of a much deeper issue: stress. Yes, stress has a profound impact on our bodies, and it's not limited to emotional and mental well-being. It can manifest in physical ways that we may not even realize. When stress becomes overwhelming, our bodies often seek solace through food and drinks, creating a pattern of non-hunger-related consumption. 🍕🥛

That is how we unconsciously turn to food or drink to cope, without even realizing that we are under its grip.

Much before I started Stillness practices, I had the habit of eating snacks and drinking tea just for the sake of it, without knowing that I am under stress! I suffered a lot from gastritis and throat infections. And medication did not help me at all in overcoming my medical problems!

Understanding the connection between stress and our eating habits is crucial for breaking this harmful cycle. By recognizing the signs and acknowledging the impact stress has on our bodies, we can take proactive steps to manage stress and come out of the vicious cycle.

Tips for stress management:

Self-awareness practices: Start by tuning in to your body and emotions. That is become aware of sensations in the body. Take note of when you're reaching for food or drinks when not truly hungry or thirsty. It could be a sign of stress.

We can become Self aware by stilling the mind now and often! Also practicing Zhan Zhuang greatly helps.
