It is said that cessation of
thoughts leads to self-knowledge. It is also said that around fifty thousand
thoughts criss-cross us in a day!
Is it possible to stop such a huge flow of thoughts?!
One day I was standing at a
bus-stop and glancing around. Suddenly my eyes stopped at a sign board of a
nearby shop that deals in spare parts and servicing of computers.
It read MIND COMPUTERS.
Then I observed that there
is a slow chanting happening within. Chanting of word Mind, Mind, Mind, Mind…………
Mined, Mined, Mined, Mined…………….
Mine….d, Mine….d, Mine…d…………
(Look, how mind got
morphed).
Isn’t it true that mind is
nothing but a mine of memories related to me and mine?
So thoughts emanate from
that mining of vast memory and these memories are mainly related to how ‘me
& mine’ should have been! And from there thoughts jump towards how ‘me &
mine’ should be! And you have a stream of thoughts adding up to fifty thousand.
Mind…..Mind…..Mind…..
Mined…Mined…Mined….
Mine d…Mine
d…Mine d……
The field of mind is mined,
full of explosives! That’s the reason we explode with emotions when we are deep
into the mind. In order to minimize hitting mines, it is better to have space
between those memories thereby having space between thoughts. This way number of
thoughts, especially the unnecessary ones can be kept at a minimum leading to
peace and calmness.
Since mind is a mine of
memories and potential mine (explosive), reclamation of mine is essential.
Reclamation, here is
restoration of mind to natural and psychologically usable state!
How to do this?
Try the following and watch
what happens!
Start observing the origin
of thought, from where each of the thought is emanating. Is it from head, toe,
heart……?
Are you in stillness,
stillness of mind?!
