Some thoughts and pictures of eclipse.

As you all know, a spectacular solar eclipse happened on 15th january 2010.

The amount of superstition surrounding the eclipse is amazing even in this era of information. It is the basic human nature of clinging to negative aspects make eclipses a fearful day.

I enjoyed the sight of eclipse on my terrace without any harm. I also enjoyed eating food during eclipse as any other day. (I have been eating during eclipses since more than 25 years and all my gastronomical system being fine over the years.)

People keep blades of grass in their houses to ward off the evil effects of the eclipse. But if we think on a broader scale, if the dead blade of grass can ward off evil around the space it has been placed, will not the grass that is growing out all over the earth protects the entire earth from evil effects of eclipse?

When I was wacthing eclipse through unexposed x-ray film , I got a phone call and it lead to manifold increase in our excitement. The phone call was about viewing the eclipse using pin hole camera. Then I decided to try that. But I could not lay my hand on any empty box and so converted a brown envelop of x-ray film into a pin hole camera and using a mirror projected the image on the wall. That was a great experience for me and my daughter. The excitment did not stop at it. When we looked at the shadow formed by the trees lined along side the road, there were thousands of image of eclipsed sun. The minute gaps between the leaves were acting as the pin hole camera! Thanks to the call made by Shri.Prakash Kulkarni, my daughter's maths teacher.

Thank you Mr. Subramani Sarode. I am also of the same opinion on eclipses.

We too enjoyed the a similar method of Pin Hole Camera. In stead of the empty carton way of creating a Pin Hole Camera, we cut a round hole on a Card board, placed it on a mirror and keeping the mirror facing the Sun, the rays of the reflection was made to fall on a shadowed wall. The bright reflection gave a very nice image of Eclipse.

I have also sent you a set of Photoes those were taken by my friend Dr. S.N.Sridhara, Dean at MS Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies. Haven't you seen them?

Thanks for sharing the thoughts on Eclipse and the nice pictures.
