( The following article was written for a school news letter issued just before the summer holiday break. Though it is written for students, by extension this can be used to capture the moments of our life. And we will have a ready reckoner for cherishing any moment at any point of time!)
Hello children! Hope you are all enjoying the summer holidays. Many of you might have planned out number of activities. The options are limitless.
Visiting your grandparents’ place, attending summer camps like swimming, cricket, dance, painting, making puppet dolls and many other such interesting things. Going on hiking, visiting places of tourist attraction and even just whiling away the time in reading your favourite story books, watching TV programmes, playing with your friends, and the list goes on.
No matter what you do during summer holidays, a day comes when you flip the page on your calendar and you see ‘June’!
But I am sure that all of you are eager to come back to school and catch up with the old friends.
You share your experiences of holidays with your friends, and suddenly you get a feeling that you could have done many more things in the holidays! Does it not happen after every summer holidays?
So if you want to avoid this and enjoy the holidays like never before, get ready to capture the fun!
By now you have fair idea of what you like to do. Your parents might have drawn up a plan. Using that as a reference, you draw your own timetable for the next 6 weeks. The following table is a model. However you can design the timetable in your own way.
Week No. Activity planned for the Week. Activity done. Experiences. Remarks
Week 1
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week 2
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week 3
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week 4
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week 5
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week 6
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For each week, write out all the things that you have planned. Then under the column ‘Activity done’ write the things that you accomplished during that week. Under ‘Experiences’ column, write how you felt when you were involved in your planned activities.
It may so happen that you may not complete the planned things. And some time you may have to change your plan. These changes will bring lots of mood changes! Record them in ‘Remarks’ column.
At the end of six weeks, you will have wealth of information about yourself and your environment.
Now let us see how to use this information. You can enliven and cherish the beautiful moments spent during holidays any time you refer your recordings. It will also help in your studies for the whole academic year! Whenever you are asked to write an essay, poem, story or do painting, you can refer to your book that has captured the holiday fun and can quickly come out with the required write up. Even you can see your name printed in this school magazine by writing your experiences!
So what are you waiting for? Get a notebook and start capturing every moment.
Wishing you all a very happy and fun filled holidays.
