The world is spending fortunes on tokens to make machines smarter.
Yet a single token....
I never paid much attention to the word token.
Until recently.
While learning Claude Code, I was astonished by the speed at which tokens disappeared.
Prompt.
Response.
Prompt.
Response.
Thousands. Then millions.
And yesterday morning's newspaper carried stories of major corporations spending millions of dollars worth of tokens to keep their AI agents thinking, responding, learning, and working.
Suddenly, tokens are serious business.
Funny, isn't it?
A token at a gambling den gets you into the game.
A token at the gate gets you through the door.
And now, tokens power the world's newest intelligence.
But long before AI, we were already spending tokens.
A token of appreciation.
A token of respect.
A token of patience.
A token of kindness.
A token of silence before speaking.
And unlike AI tokens, these don't appear on any dashboard.
In the Suswasa space, we practice perhaps the smallest token of all:
One conscious breath.
Five seconds of stillness.
A micro-practice between two busy moments.
A token-sized pause.
Perhaps the most valuable token isn't the one we spend on machines.
It's the one we invest in ourselves.
One breath. One pause. One token of awareness at a time.
The world is spending fortunes on tokens to make machines smarter.
Yet a single token of awareness can help a human become wiser.
