SPARROWS AND BUTTERFLIES.

Ram Janmabhoomi and Babri Mosque is what occupying every inch of column space in print media, every frame of visual in TVs and of course there is no conversation, which does not refer to the issue.

Recently I read an article about how sparrows and butterflies are going out of sight in Bangalore. Every one agrees that pollution level and rapid development of the city are the major reason. But what is astonishing is, I have been reading this type of article since pretty long. When I came to Bangalore about 25 years back, I was fortunate to sight sparrows and butterflies and at the same time read these types of articles worrying about their extinction.

However, I keep sighting the sparrows, butterflies even today and that too of many species. The numbers of these creatures might have been on the decline on the urban side. Still if one has ear and eye to listen to the chirping and to look at these beautiful creatures, they can be sighted even at the busy signal junction near Windsor Manor Hotel!

It is only our attitude towards life has made us not to observe these things. In fact all the technological development (mobiles, Computers, etc) in the last two decades should have made our life to be proceeding at a leisurely pace. Most of these innovations are made to reduce the time and effort to a larger extent. Alas! To lead so-called comfortable life, the effort required is manifold and there is a severe constraint on the time available also.

Since about two decades, the Ram Janmabhoomi and Babri Mosque issue has played out with different intensity, inconveniencing the life of Indians. The extinction of sparrows is being declared now and then. Similarly majority of the people are searching for the Happiness perceived to be in abundance decades ago.

Just a shift in the attitude towards our life will make us to be Happy, even while stuck in the traffic jam near Windsor Manor Bridge! And when ban on bulk SMS jeopardises our financial transactions.

After all, H A P P Y means Having Awareness of Present Position and yet capable of saying Yahoo… to life!. Then, not only sparrows and butterflies but also grand rendezvous of colours can be seen at every dawn and dusk.
