Which one do you think is the easiest?
Chase happiness or Choose happiness?
There’s a third way - the simplest, yet not
necessarily the easiest.
Let’s take a quick look at the first two:
1. Chase Happiness - The hardest and most
exhausting.
It’s like chasing a rainbow, always shifting.
When we pursue happiness through achievements, possessions, or others'
approval, it keeps slipping away. It's a never-ending race.
2. Choose Happiness - Empowering, but tricky.
This implies a mind set shift, choosing to be happy regardless of
circumstances. While it’s more grounded than chasing, this can
easily become surface-level positivity without addressing deeper
emotions or stress. Nice on the outside, hollow within.
And now the third way;
3. Be in Stillness - The most natural, yet least practiced.
Stillness doesn’t demand chasing or choosing.
It invites you to pause... to simply be.
From that space, happiness often arises, not as a goal, but as a gentle by product.
*****
Chasing
happiness is exhausting.
Choosing
happiness requires effort.
Being in
stillness is the most natural and often the most powerful.
P.S. These thoughts emerged when I received the image below through a WhatsApp forward. (Yes, I added the last line to it!)
