Friday Fear
"Every Friday at 5 PM, this strange fear would hit me.
At first, I couldn’t explain it, but then it turned into this deep emptiness - like
I didn’t know what to do with myself. It didn’t stop there. The feeling would
spill over into my entire weekend, making Saturday and Sunday feel heavy. This
had been happening for four years! And underneath it all was this
anxiety about whether I was really making progress in life."
One of my clients shared this during our first session.
The next Saturday , during
our second session, I asked what had
happened the evening before, the client smiled and said;
“I practiced the micro-practices every day morning, and also
every hour throughout the day, even if it is for 30 seconds. And then Friday
came. It was the sixth day of my practice. At 5 PM, right on cue, I felt
that familiar uneasiness creeping in. But this time, I was on the metro, and I
immediately did a micro-practice. And just like that the heavy feeling
dissolved. My weekend was normal for the first time in four years. I can’t
believe something so small made such a big difference. I am actually looking
forward to the remaining sessions now!"
Sometimes, all it takes is a moment of awareness to break a
long-standing cycle.
